Recommended Security Steps to Protect Your Registered Charity from Fraud:
1. Have only one person authorized to a) use your tax receipt printing software and b) issue and sign Tax Receipts,
2. Ensure that the authorized person has undergone Volunteer Screening with 3
positive independent character references and a Police Record Check,
3. When a tax receipt is requested, ensure that the donation has been received and accounted for,
4. Keep the tax receipt forms under lock and key as you would blank cheques,
5. Use security tax receipt forms such as 83403 in place of an emailed receipt (or one printed on plain paper) to prevent counterfeiting once issued,
6. Keep a copy for your files and/or a complete list of the details of issued receipts.
